Scotts Bluff County Board of Commissioners are accepting applications for Scotts Bluff County Public Defender. The Public Defender represents indigent criminal defendants at all critical stages of misdemeanor and felony proceedings against them through the stage of sentencing. Work can involve heavy litigation, requiring extensive time in the courtroom, administrative duties, and oversight of attorneys and staff of the office. Requirements: Graduation from an accredited law school, admission to the Nebraska State Bar Association, prior jury trial experience. The Public Defender is responsible for preparing the annual budget for the office to be approved by the Scotts Bluff County Commissioners. Current wage $8303.00 per month.

This is an elected position. The selected person will serve out the present unexpired term and may then run for election in 2026. This position qualifies for Veterans’ Preference. Excellent benefit package is available. Scotts Bluff County EOE/AAP.
