Oil and Gas Attorney - Assistant Attorney General - State of Alaska
The State of Alaska has significant interests in oil and gas through its unique status as a major lessor, regulator, taxing authority, and sovereign. The Oil and Gas Section attorneys represent state client agencies to ensure that the State's vast oil, gas, and geothermal resources are responsibly managed and revenues from royalties and taxes received. The attorney hired for this position primarily will advise on upstream and midstream oil and gas issues including exploration, leasing, unitization, royalties, pipeline right-of-way leasing, and tariff protests. The attorney may also represent the Department of Revenue in state tax matters including oil and gas production tax, corporate income tax, oil and gas property tax, and various state excise taxes.
