The San Diego County Bar Association, the second largest voluntary metropolitan bar association in California with over 8,500 members, is soliciting applications for the position of Executive Director.
The Executive Director is accountable to the Board of Directors for implementing the SDCBA’s priorities, policies, goals, and objectives as established by the Board and is responsible for the association’s operations and staff and financial management as well as other matters described in the job description for the position. The position requires an individual who understands association management and the legal profession, has successfully implemented a strategic plan, and can maintain and strengthen relationships with other law-related organizations, the courts, and the professional team. Requirements also include prior experience managing staff and volunteers, leadership experience, preferably in an executive director or senior management role, and strong public speaking, writing and diplomacy/ambassadorship skills. A bachelor’s degree is required; a postgraduate degree, such as a master’s degree or Juris Doctor, is a plus, as is senior-level experience in a bar association or nonprofit association.
