Cottage Health is seeking candidates for the newly created role of Assistant General Counsel Regulatory and Transactional (AGC). This position will be supporting the organization virtually, working out of a home office environment based in California and attending meetings at Cottage Health sites as required.
Reporting to the Vice President and General Counsel, the AGC is responsible for providing legal advice and counsel to support internal clients and serve as lead attorney in certain substantive legal areas, as assigned, including but not limited to physician contracting, healthcare regulatory, healthcare transactions (including overseeing due diligence, participation in negotiations, preparing and reviewing transaction documents), compliance related matters, and other areas as assigned.
The AGC is a highly strategic and proactive legal counsel that is well-versed in the business dynamics and regulatory environment of the healthcare industry. This individual is innovative and someone who identifies solutions that facilitate Cottage Health’s strategy to assure the success and growth of the organization. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a high performing in-house legal team and work in a positive, open, and responsive team environment. It is important that the AGC is viewed as a leader who is credible, visible, and accessible; someone who exhibits high integrity, a willingness to listen effectively and work collaboratively. Working with the Vice President and General Counsel, this person will constantly be thinking of better ways to operate and how to structure these growth opportunities.
The successful candidate must have excellent academic credentials, a law degree from an ABA accredited school of law, membership in the State Bar of California, or eligibility for admission based on in-house counsel is required, and an outstanding record of achievement with at least five years of healthcare law experience gained in-house or through working closely with complex healthcare clients.
